This red wine from the Port house Ramos Pinto is truly special! 20% of the harvest is aged in oak barrels for approximately 12 months. This makes this Portuguese wine much fuller and more powerful.

The beginning of Ramos Pinto

Founded in 1880, Ramos Pinot has become a leading winery producing excellent port and Douro wines. It owns four vineyards in the Douro wine region: Quintas do Bom Retiro and da Urtiga, traditional vineyards in the heart of the Douro Valley, for refinement and sophistication; Quinta dos Bons Ares, one of the most modern vineyards in the Douro Superior, for a fresh and vibrant note; and finally, Quinta de Ervamoira, located in the Côa Valley, for structure, robustness, and intense fruit. The grapes for Ramos Pinto wines come from all these vineyards. The grapes are hand-picked and transported in 150-kilogram crates. They are then pressed, destemmed, and fermented in steel vats at a maximum temperature of 25 degrees Celsius. The maceration is just long enough to give the wine the desired body and structure. After fermentation, twenty percent of the wine is aged in French oak barrels for twelve months; the rest remains in the steel vats. The wine is bottled 18 months later.

What does the Duas Quintas Ramos Pinto Tinto taste like?

The Ramos Pinto Duas Quintas Tinto gleams dark purple in the glass. The bouquet is multi-layered and complex, with fruity aromas such as ripe plums, cooked wild berries, and blackcurrant, delicate floral notes, and toasted aromas with hints of tobacco, chocolate, spices, and roasted coffee beans. Dense, juicy fruit density on the palate, beautifully integrated, with a strong tannic structure, smoky notes, lingering spice, and great length. A powerful Portuguese red wine of the highest caliber! Delicious as an aperitif, but also excellent with light appetizers, salads, or soups.
