A fresh, light white wine from the Casa de Compostela winery. The blend consists of Loureiro, Arinto, and Fernao Pires. These three grape varieties are deeply rooted in the Portuguese landscape. This Vinho Verde offers a broad palette of aromas with citrus and some soft fruit notes.
Accessible white wines from Casa de Compostela
Although the winery's name evokes Spain, the imposing Casa de Compostela winery is located in the heart of Portugal's Minho region. Vinho Verde has been produced here since 1908 and is known as a very accessible white wine. And that, of course, is the winery's specialty. The winery was founded in 1960 by Manuel Concalves, who has since expanded it to 40 hectares of vineyards. To this day, the winery remains family-owned and produces thirst-quenching wines that are perfect on a summer day.
The grapes come from the rolling hills of northern Portugal, a wine region northwest of Porto, whose climate is influenced by the Atlantic Ocean to the west. This is incredibly beneficial for the ripening process. Thanks to the cool sea breeze, the vineyards cool down perfectly after a long summer day. After harvesting, the grapes are rigorously selected to ensure only the finest quality grapes reach the press. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks, giving the wine a very acidic finish, typical of Vinho Verde.
The delicious young Espigueiro Vinho Verde
The Espigueiro Vinho Verde is a light gold color with greenish reflections in the glass. It releases intense aromas of white flowers, pear, lemon, and mandarin. The palate offers refreshing notes of green apple, among other things. The balanced acidity leaves a pleasant tingling sensation on the tongue. A delicious young white wine from warm Portugal, it pairs perfectly with fish dishes, salads, or oriental dishes.
