Anselmo Mendes's king wine! What a full-bodied wine, unbelievable! This top-notch wine is called Expressoes Alvarinho. The aroma clearly reveals the oak aging, along with notes of yellow apricot, peach, and apple, creating a beautiful whole. This Alvarinho is truly one of Portugal's finest, and you can taste it too, with notes of yellow fruit and tropical fruit. Truly quite full and creamy! Absolutely superb!

The beginning of the Anselmo Mendes winery

Anselmo Mendes began vinifying wine with the Alvarinho grape in 1998, his true love. He is one of Portugal's iconic winemakers. With his knowledge, intuition, and of course, state-of-the-art technology, he knows how to get the most out of what Portugal has to offer. He has made wine almost everywhere in Portugal, and that has given him the necessary knowledge. Anselmo Mendes has since proven himself as a winemaker. The winery is located in the Minho Valley, a place for research and experimentation. Today, he works with what he considers the three most important grapes of the region: Alvarinho from the Minho Valley, Loureiro from the Lima Valley, and Acesso from the Doura Valley.

Anselmo Mendes' showpiece

The Expressões is one of Anselmo Mendes' flagship wines. For this wine, he selects the very best grapes from the Monção e Melgaço region, in the far north of the Vinho Verde region. Mendes meticulously selects which plots are used for this wine, ensuring the highest quality. A total of just over 3,000 bottles are produced, making it a small production run. The grapes are destemmed, followed by a gentle pressing, using only the finest juice. Fermentation takes place in 400-liter French barriques. Maturation then takes place in the same barriques for nine months. This results in a wine of unprecedented depth and complexity. It's an example of what is possible in Vinho Verde when producing great wines.
