A wonderfully fresh Chardonnay from the Famille Descombe family estate. The grapes come from vineyards in the Mâconnais region. This region experiences dramatic temperature fluctuations, making it a challenge to ripen the grapes evenly. But leave that to the Descombe family. They consciously choose to let the fruit take center stage, as there's no oak aging involved. The result is a finely aromatic wine with abundant fruit flavors.
The quality vineyards of Famille Descombe
In 1905, the Famille Descombe family business was founded in the Beaujolais region. In the 1930s, the second generation decided to expand the estate by purchasing vineyards in the Rhône Valley. Later, vineyards in Alsace, Burgundy, and Bordeaux followed. Today, the estate is owned by the fifth generation. From day one, the focus has been on quality and the family spirit, which must be preserved: a love of wine.
The Chardonnay grapes are grown on limestone and clay soil. Thanks to the abundant sunshine, the grapes ripen perfectly, developing unique characteristics. At optimal ripeness, the grapes are selectively harvested. Only the finest grapes are good enough. In the winery, the grapes are gently pressed and then fermented at low temperatures. Finally, the wine is aged for six months on the fine lees.
Pleasant freshness of Famille Descombe Chardonnay
In the glass, a light yellow wine appears with golden reflections. A wonderfully intense aroma unfolds. White fruits such as apple, pear, peach, and apricot blend with white flowers in an attractive aroma. On the palate, a beautifully rounded flavor with a pleasant freshness. The finish is long with ripe white fruit.
