Modern wines from Famille Descombe

In 1905, the Famille Descombe family business was founded in the Beaujolais region. In the 1930s, the second generation decided to expand the estate by purchasing vineyards in the Rhône Valley, and in recent years, vineyards in the Rhône have also been added. Since 2000, they have not only enjoyed domestic success but are also allowed to export their wines to many other countries. Today, the fifth generation is at the helm. Marine Descombe focuses largely on modernization and the continued expansion of the vineyards. The wines are modern, with a distinctive style and a regional touch. The grapes are grown on clay and limestone soils and enjoy a mild climate. When the grapes reach peak ripeness, they are carefully and selectively harvested. Vinification takes place in five steps. In the cellar, the grapes are first destemmed. This is followed by a cold maceration of five to six days to extract intense fruitiness. Alcoholic fermentation then takes place in stainless steel vats, where the temperature is maintained continuously. Maceration then continues for three weeks, with brief pumping over twice a day. Finally, malolactic fermentation takes place.

The Descombe Pinot Noir emerges in the glass with a light garnet color. We immediately enjoy aromatic aromas of cherry, strawberry, and raspberry. If you take a moment to savor the aroma, you'll also notice notes of black fruit and spicy pepper. The palate boasts supple and elegant tannins with a round mouthfeel. Lively and rich with a pleasant finish.
