And this family certainly knows how to do just that. They know better than anyone how to take full advantage of the region's ideal conditions, resulting in perfectly ripe grapes.
Perfectly ripe grapes for Les Christins Vacqueyras Blanc
The imposing Perrin family château is located in the small town of Orange. The family has a total of 325 hectares at their disposal and knows how to make the most of the local conditions. The grapes come from coolly situated vineyards. The soil consists of limestone and is highly varied due to the influence of water currents. It consists of calcareous clay and gravel. The philosophy is that you can make good wine by allowing the grapes to flourish in the best possible natural conditions. Nothing is left to chance.
The grapes are harvested entirely by hand and rigorously selected in the winery. After selection, the grapes are lightly crushed and undergo two days of cold maceration to extract more aromas. The grapes are then pressed, and the juice rests for 12 hours. Alcoholic fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. Malolactic fermentation and lees aging take place in stainless steel tanks and oak barrels. After eight months, the wine is blended, clarified, and lightly filtered as needed. And then it's time to taste the wine.
