Manual harvest for Familie Perrin wines
For over a century, the Perrin family has been incredibly successful. They now own 400 hectares of vineyards in the southern Rhône Valley. They began organic farming in 1953 and biodynamic farming in 1970. Today, two generations of the family are still active in the business, always working with a philosophy of excellence and the highest possible quality.
All grapes for the Famille Perrin Ventoux Rouge grow on the slopes of Mont Ventoux in France. The soil there varies depending on the altitude. It consists largely of the limestone deposits of Mont Ventoux. At the foot of the mountain, it is again made up of Tertiary soil with chalk debris and stones. Thanks to these locations, the grapes have excellent acidity. The grapes are harvested entirely by hand and brought to the winery. Here, they are selected, destemmed, and crushed, followed by temperature-controlled alcoholic fermentation in large concrete vats. The grapes are then pressed and transferred to stainless steel tanks and large oak barrels for malolactic fermentation and aging. After 10 months, the wine is bottled.
What does the Famille Perrin Ventoux taste like?
The Famille Perrin Ventoux Rouge is a dream red wine! Made from Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah, and Carignan grapes, it presents itself in a deep, dark red. The nose bursts with fruit, with notes of blackcurrant and blackberry particularly prominent. There are also delicate, spicy aromas. The wine hits the palate with a particularly powerful bite, typical of the Rhône. Thanks to the cool mountain air, the Famille Perrin Ventoux Rouge has a remarkably fresh finish.
