Farina Appassilento Rosso del Veneto

The Farina winery has a long history, and today it remains family-owned. Luigi Andreoli and Andrea Zerman are currently at the helm of the family, producing Farina's fantastic wines. This beautiful winery is located in the heart of the Valpolicella region of Veneto. The Farina family is proud of their winery and is currently managed daily by Claudio and his cousin Elena, the third generation of the Farina family.

The old vineyard for the red Appassilento wine

Farina has ten hectares of its own vineyard and collaborates with winegrower friends from the Farina family. Together, these friends provide the winery with another thirty-five hectares of vineyards. Upholding tradition and Italian culture is something they all work hard for. And that's clearly reflected in this red Appassilento. This red wine is made with three grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Corvina, and Merlot, all from the Veneto region. The old vines provide the winemakers with truly beautiful bunches, perfect for the renowned Appassilento wine.

Appassilento means peace

With this red wine, Farina aims to demonstrate that winemaking is all about rest. They take this quite literally, as this red wine undergoes a very long aging process and a fermentation process twice as long. This makes it full-bodied and ripe, and it's considered a bit like a mini Amarone. Once the grapes have reached their ideal ripeness, they are partially harvested by hand and immediately brought to Farina. Upon arrival, all the bunches are inspected again, as only the finest bunches are good enough for this red wine. The aroma reveals abundant black and red fruit, complemented by plums, cherries, and toffee. The taste is very soft and refined, with plenty of black fruit such as blackberries, cherries, and currants. There are also lovely nuances of plums, currants, and chocolate.
