Feudo Arancio produces its wines on the southern coast of Sicily. This unique region had been neglected for years until Grand Master Mezzacorona took over the vineyards and winery in 2001. They bought the estate for next to nothing because everything was in a dilapidated state. Nevertheless, the winemakers saw potential in the vineyards and the unique location. And this has paid off; after clearing the vineyards and replanting new grape varieties, the winery is now known as Sicily's pioneer. The vineyards are now around twenty years old and are producing a superb harvest. Besides the vineyards, they are also building a new winery for Feudo Arancio, equipped with all the modern amenities. This explains the beautiful and pure style of Feudo Arancio's wine.

Wood aging for the Feudo Arancio Syrah

For the Syrah grapes, we travel to Sambuca di Sicilia, in the province of Agrigento, and also to Acate, in the province of Ragusa, where the vineyards for this red wine are located. The former yields a more mature and structured wine, while the latter produces a more delicate and fruity wine, resulting in a unique result. The grapes grow in a warm climate, allowing the bunches to draw abundant nutrients from the rich soil structure. After being harvested by hand, this Feudo Arancio Syrah is aged for a full ten months in oak barrels. This is an important period because it develops beautiful hues during aging.

Full and very powerful this Feudo Arancio Syrah

In the glass, it reveals a beautiful ruby red color and exudes fragrance. On the nose, we encounter notes of black fruit, spicy hints of black pepper and thyme, with a touch of cedar. The powerful initial aroma continues on the palate, giving us a warm sensation of blackberries, cherries, and plums. On the palate, fine tannins with subtle hints of pepper and cloves. This powerful flavor continues with a ripe and lingering finish.
