Feuerheerd's Anchor Port has been a staple in our range for years, as has this Feuerheerd's Fine Tawny Port. This delicious port is made from the classic port grapes Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barocca, and Tinta Cao. These exquisitely selected Port wines are combined to create a beautiful blend and then aged in small oak barrels to preserve their full, powerful character. This method results in a very pleasant Tawny red port.
The beginning of Feuerheerd's winery
Port House Feuerheerd's was founded in 1815 by the German Dietrich Matthias Feuerheerd. In 1926, it was sold to the Barros family, after which the house became renowned over the years for the quality of its wines. The Vintage Port, in particular, stood head and shoulders above the rest. Today, one of the most famous families in the Port region is at the helm: the Van Zeller family. The origins of the renowned Zeller family date back to the 13th century, to the Flemish cities of Mechelen and Nijmegen, where the family owned several buildings, namely the village of Zellaer. They have been making port wines in their beloved Portugal since the 17th century. The fourteenth generation is now at the helm of this fine port house. But they no longer produce only port wines, but also a full-bodied and powerful red wine made from local grape varieties.
Enjoy the fruity flavours of this Fine Tawny Port
This Fine Tawny Port from Feuerheerd's is less sweet than the Ruby Port. Its deep red color with a brown rim makes us curious about its aroma and flavor. The aroma is a fusion of young red fruit combined with dried fruit and a hint of cinnamon. The flavor is rich and full. Less sweet than Feuerheerd's Ruby Port, but perhaps therefore a little more appealing. Delicious, full nuances of dried fruit, nuts, cinnamon, and raisins. A lovely port to pair with cheese boards or less sweet desserts.
