Right next to the renowned Grand Crus lies the beautiful terroir of the Premier Cru Vaulorent. Owners Nathalie and Gilles Fevre are incredibly proud of this vineyard. The vines are over 40 years old, giving the wine a wealth of dimension. The oak and lees aging give this wine beautiful layers.

The best Chardonnay grapes from Fevre

The Fevre family is often associated with the Chablis region. And for good reason. They've built a strong reputation here thanks to their beautiful wines. Nathalie and Gilles met while studying oenology. In 2003, they were given the opportunity to acquire their own vineyards and market them under their own label. Gilles takes charge of the vineyards, while Nathalie works in the cellars. This combination results in balanced wines with soft fruit, which pair perfectly with the wine's energetic acidity. The grapes for this Chablis come from a small parcel in Vaulorent, right next to the Grand Cru Les Preuses. The slope faces south and southwest, allowing for abundant sunshine. The soil consists of calcareous clay, marl, and limestone from the Kimmeridge period. Because Vaulorent is practically an extension of Les Preuses, the wines have a similar power and minerality to those from the Grand Cru. This vineyard is therefore surrounded by Grand Cru vineyards.

The vinification of Fevre Chablis 1er Cru Vaulorent

The grapes are carefully and entirely harvested by hand. Once they arrive in the cellar, they undergo rigorous selection. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The wine then matures on the lees for 12 months, 20 percent of which is spent in oak barrels. This process softens the wine and adds complexity. The Chablis 1er Cru Vaulorent is a light golden yellow in the glass with aromas of peach, pineapple, minerals, brioche, and a slightly smoky aroma. The palate is rich and full of fruit.
