Francis Ford Coppola, who doesn't know him? A world-famous director of films like The Godfather. Besides his passion and talent for filmmaking, he has another passion: making wine! A passion his grandfather shared, and one he has continued. After a long search, he found the perfect location for a summer house with enough space to set up a winery. From that moment on, the Francis Ford Coppola Winery was a reality! His goal was to create delicious wines for every day. This passion has since grown into a large company where quality remains paramount. There are several series within the Coppola line, with a suitable wine for every wine lover.
Wood aging for the Chardonnay
The Coppola Diamond Selection is one of the most famous lines of Coppola wines. Its flagship is the Coppola Chardonnay. A world-renowned wine, and for good reason! What a gem! The grapes for this Chardonnay are grown in Monterey County, a picturesque coastal town south of San Francisco. The cool Pacific air that blows through the valley creates a perfect combination of warmth and coolness. This valley is therefore ideally suited for growing grapes. After vinification, the majority of the wine is aged in French oak barrels. To retain some freshness, the remainder is aged in stainless steel barrels.
The aromas and flavors of the Francis Coppola Chardonnay
The result of this maturation is a fantastic white American wine! The color is a beautiful golden yellow, just as we expect from a Chardonnay. This Coppola Chardonnay has a beautiful bouquet of apple, ripe melon, delicious floral notes, a touch of vanilla, a touch of smoky, beautifully broad, and seductive—that's the best way to describe it. The palate of this Francis Coppola Chardonnay is wonderfully mild, with lovely flavors of butter and plenty of tropical fruit like mango, pineapple, and ripe peaches. There's also a touch of vanilla, wood, and caramel. The finish is full, creamy, and wonderfully long. It's no wonder this is Coppola's best-selling wine!
