Francis Ford Coppola Diamond Collection Chardonnay Santa Lucia Highlands | The successor to the Sonoma County Chardonnay
This Francis Ford Coppola Diamond Collection Chardonnay Santa Lucia Highlands is the proud successor to the previously renowned Sonoma County Chardonnay. In this new expression from the cool coastal Santa Lucia Highlands region, Coppola once again demonstrates its class, with a wealth of aromas, subtle oak notes, and an elegant, silky texture.
Origin – influence of mist and ocean
The grapes for this wine are grown in the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA, an area south of Monterey Bay where maritime influences create fresh breezes, morning mist, and gradual ripening. Thanks to this climate, the Chardonnay grapes develop deep concentration with refined acidity and impressive aromatic expression.
Vinification and maturation – nine months in oak
This wine is made from 100% Chardonnay . The majority of the blend is aged for nine months in French and Hungarian oak barrels . This careful aging gives the wine a subtle, integrated oak note and a creamy texture that perfectly complements the fresh fruit notes.
Tasting notes – full of charm and refinement
On the nose, this Chardonnay opens with aromas of apple, fig, crème brûlée, and honeysuckle . On the palate, notes of toasted bread, mixed nuts, and pastries follow, rounded out by a silky mid-palate and a long, elegant finish. The structure is powerful yet refined, with an impressively rounded balance.
Serving tips – versatile at the table
This wine pairs perfectly with grilled chicken or pork chops , but also with monkfish, scallops, or crab salad . Serve this Chardonnay between 12 and 16°C to get the most out of every sip.
