Francis Coppola Diamond Collection, beautiful wines with excellent value. This Californian winery was founded by renowned director Francis Ford Coppola, who took over from his grandfather. No, not the director's baton, but the winemaking baton. His grandfather had a passion for wine and made his own concrete wine tanks, which he installed in the basement of his apartment building, after which the winemaking could begin. The wines he made were certainly not bad. However, this was on a very small scale. After his death, Francis inherited his notebook in which he described his winemaking.
Francis Coppola Pinot Noir full wood aging
In 1975, Francis Ford Coppola began searching for a summer retreat with a large cellar. He wanted to make wine there, just like his grandfather, following his grandfather's "recipe." However, this hobby spiraled out of control, and the Francis Coppola Winery was born! Francis also wanted to make everyday wines, which he achieved with the Diamond Collection. Following the success of these wines, he also wanted to produce premium wines. This, too, was not entirely without success. When we think of American wines, two grape varieties come to mind: Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. These two grape varieties thrive in California's vineyards. Francis managed to create a magnificent wine from Pinot Noir: this Coppola Diamond Collection Pinot Noir.
The aroma and taste of the Francis Coppola Pinot Noir Santa Barbara
The color is truly stunning. Bright ruby red with a purple rim. Just as we expect from a Pinot Noir! The nose offers beautiful aromas of strawberry, cranberry, a hint of pepper, and, thanks to the French oak barrels, a lovely hint of vanilla. The taste is phenomenal, a true gem. This Coppola red wine is a delightful Pinot Noir. Smooth, with a hint of spice, a powerful and full-bodied style that is both beautiful and typical of California. The finish is wonderfully smooth. This Pinot Noir is best enjoyed at a temperature of 14 to 15 degrees Celsius, slightly chilled.
