The beginning of Castello Banfi

Banfi was founded in 1978 by the Italian-American brothers, John and Harry Mariani. From the outset, the two brothers' goal was to create a state-of-the-art winery, combined with the most advanced vineyard science for the production of premium wines. Along with the Mariani family, Ezio Rivella, one of Italy's foremost oenologists, understood that the property's rich soil and privileged microclimate would offer significant development potential. During that time, brothers John and Harry also acquired Bruzzone, a historic winery in Piedmont. Founded in 1860 and specializing in the production of sparkling wines, it is now known as Banfi Piemonte.

The grapes for this white wine are planted in poor, rocky vineyards to prevent excessive growth and to give the grapes strength and flavor. Here too, no oak was used; the wine must remain fruity and juicy, uncomplicated. Sauvignon lends it an aromatic aroma, with tropical fruit, while the Chardonnay contributes a powerful flavor with some fat and fullness. A surprising combination that works remarkably well.

On the nose, this Fumaio Sauvignon Blanc Chardonnay has aromas of exotic fruit, pear, a hint of citrus, and a touch of ripe white fruit. A very lively wine with a beautiful bouquet of aromas. The palate is equally full and powerful, very well balanced. The taste of this Fumaio Sauvignon Blanc Chardonnay is powerful and full, slightly oily, and abundantly fruity. Perfectly balanced and simply delicious! Excellent with a meal, it pairs perfectly with fish-based dishes, such as pan-fried sea bass or grilled squid.
