High quality wines from Georges Vigouroux
The Georges Vigouroux winery is located in the Cahors region of France. Founded in 1887, it is now run by the fourth generation of the family. The winery is best known for its production of wines from the Malbec grape, also known as the "black grape of Cahors." Georges Vigouroux has vineyards in various locations throughout Cahors, totaling over 350 hectares. The vineyards are situated on diverse terroirs, including limestone, slate, and clay-gravel soils, and are managed sustainably and with respect for the environment. This allows the winery to offer a diverse range of wines, all of which are of exceptionally high quality.
This wine is made of 85 percent Malbec grapes, supplemented by 15 percent Merlot. The best grapes are carefully selected and pressed. The resulting juice is fermented at a temperature of 25 to 28 degrees Celsius, which is considerably lower than for other red wines. Fermentation takes approximately 14 days, considerably shorter than for traditional Cahors wines. This method gives the wine a very fruity character with soft tannins.
