This white wine, called Platine Vieilles Vignes, is the Gibault family's showpiece—or rather, its crown jewel. It's made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes grown on vines that are up to 45 years old. This unique vineyard is planted in nutrient-rich soil, from which the plants absorb many nuances. The climate is perfect, and the growing season is long, ensuring the grapes get everything they need. Mr. Gibault is more than proud of his Platine Sauvignon Vieilles Vignes.
Completely hand-harvested for this Gibault Platine Sauvignon Vieilles Vignes
The grapes are harvested entirely by hand, ensuring only the finest juice makes it into this bottle of Gibault Platine Sauvignon Vieilles Vignes. After pressing, the juice is aged on the lees, making it full-bodied and powerful without losing its freshness. This technique is perfectly suited to Sauvignon Blanc, as the lees aging gives it enormous depth and rich, full-bodied flavors. Pascal Gibault, the winemaker behind this magnificent work, surprises us in every way.
The best wine from Gibault this Platine
It's a true celebration from start to finish, starting the moment we uncork the bottle. A beautiful, lively aroma of dried fruit and a slightly spicy note with a hint of citrus immediately emerges. Pouring, we were amazed by the beautiful dark yellow color it has acquired thanks to its aging on the lees. In the glass, the juice adds even more richness. On the nose, lovely notes of tropical fruit and a touch of fresh mint leaves. The flavor of this Platine is intense, and Mr. Gibault has truly left his mark on this white wine. A lovely, thick structure with flavors of pineapple and mango, as well as citrus and grapefruit. The creamy texture creates a pleasant mouthfeel and a fresh finish.
