The Platt&Riegl Pinot Bianco from the Girlan winery is an exceptional white wine with a delicate, fresh, and yet full character. Made from Pinot Blanc grapes harvested at an altitude of 450-550 meters above sea level in the Oberetsch region, an area where different soil types—clay, limestone, and gravel—combine to give the wine its unique flavor.
Pure wines from Cantina Girlan
Girlan is one of the most prestigious wine cooperatives in northern Italy's Alto Adige region. Surrounded by the magnificent Dolomites, they produce exemplary white and red wines. Girlan was one of the first collectives to pay its growers based on the quality of their fruit, not the volume. Girlan has beautiful locations in the region, and its wines are sold in over 30 countries worldwide. Day in and day out, they work to further develop wine production with a focus on sustainability, with the ultimate goal of cultivating high-quality wines of regional origin.
The Pinot Bianco grapes are harvested entirely by hand at peak ripeness and transported to the winery in small containers. Here, the grapes are rigorously selected, destemmed, and gently pressed. Fermentation then follows, with 50 percent of the must fermented in stainless steel tanks and 50 percent in large wooden barrels. Malolactic fermentation takes place after fermentation, which lasts about a month. The wine is then aged on the fine lees for approximately seven months. At the end of this period, the wine is ready for bottling.
