Wow, what a thick and powerful Albarino from the Rías Baixas wine region. The winery is managed by Hammeken Cellars, a well-known name in the field of top Spanish wines. The beautiful Gotas Del Mar winery has expanded its borders, now also owning a vineyard in the north, in the Rías Baixas wine region. According to winemaker Jean Marc Sauboua, the finest and best Albariño grapes grow here. And he's right; with this wine in hand, we feel fantastic and can't wait to open it. But there's more to tell about this Gotas Del Mar. The Albariño vineyards are situated in the best locations in Rías Baixas. Close to the ocean, with a gentle slope facing the sun, the location is perfect. The Albariño grapes are thus heavily influenced by the salty sea breeze, so the aroma and flavor reflect notes of the sea. Due to the many hours of sunshine that the vineyard receives, the Albariño grows gently and perfectly and is all harvested by hand.

The old Albarino vineyard of Gotas Del Mar

The old vineyard produces a truly magnificent harvest, renowned throughout the Rías Baixas region. After a long ripening period, all the grapes are carefully harvested by hand in the early morning. Each bunch is checked for suitability for white wine. The resulting juice is exceptionally pure and fresh, but before it is ready, the grapes are pressed very gently. The winery produces excellent varietal wines through a careful preparation process that combines local tradition with the latest technology.

The aroma and taste of the Gotas Del Mar Albarino Rias Baixas

As soon as the bottle is opened, we smell the sea, a beautiful minerality with abundant citrus fruit and a hint of balsamic. Upon pouring, we see a lovely light yellow color with green glints. The aromas are enhanced with aromas of apples, stone fruit, toast, balsamic, and minerals. The palate is a perfect Albariño, beautifully fresh and minerally on the palate with fruity notes of lemon and green apple. Later, as the wine lingers on the palate, ripe nuances of mango and passion fruit emerge, along with hints of daisies and white roses. This wine pairs beautifully with shellfish and fish dishes.
