We've wondered ten times how it can be for this price, because this Gran Maestro Primitivo di Manduria is so beautiful! A ripe, full-bodied wine with a unique character, and it's as if an angel is hovering over your tongue... Yes, that's the best way to describe this red wine. Cielo Winery boasts a top-notch vineyard filled with Primitivo di Manduria, and the location is ideal, with plenty of sunshine and a fresh sea breeze in the heart of the Puglia wine region.
The old vineyard of Gran Maestro Primitivo di Manduria
The grapes for this Gran Maestro are harvested by hand and rigorously selected, after which a portion is aged in oak barrels. With the help of renowned Apulian winemaker Beppe, they decided to challenge the king of Apulian wines. And they more than succeeded, because this Gran Maestro boasts a broad bouquet of berries, plum jam, a lovely spice, and hints of cocoa and vanilla. The palate is truly beautiful, full and creamy with a thick finish and refined tannins. Aromas of ripe black fruit, red berries, coffee grounds, vanilla, plums, tobacco, and much more. We won't reveal everything, because this wine has so much to offer that you can savor and describe!
Gran Maestro Primitivo and food
We're often asked what pairs best with this delicious red wine. This full-bodied and powerful red wine lends itself to pairing with dishes featuring red meat from the Green Egg or grilled, pasta dishes with red sauce and, if desired, truffles. A stew, such as game, is also very delicious. It's also a wonderful accompaniment to aged and hard cheeses, such as Dutch aged cheeses and the slightly harder Italian Pecorino. A wine with a wide range of uses.
