The unique vineyards for Gritsch Axpoint Grüner Veltliner

The Gritsch Mauritiushof was originally used by monks to gather grapes in the 13th century. Since 1799, it has been owned by the Gritsch family, who started the winemaking tradition. The seventh generation is currently at the helm, and passion is paramount. Franz-Jozef and Maria Theresia Gritsch strive for the highest possible quality in harmony with nature. The Wachau vineyards are unique in their landscape, but they also offer perfect conditions for grape cultivation. It is a unique and special estate, where remarkable wines are created. The Grüner Veltliner grows at the foot of the famous Singerriedel vineyard. On this slope, the grape thrives, ultimately resulting in a vibrant wine. The soil, composed of weathered rock with clay, sand, black soil, and a layer of loess, is exceptionally well-suited for Grüner Veltliner. Only the very best grapes are used for this Gritsch white wine. After harvest, the grapes are taken directly to the winery. Here, they are carefully selected and pressed. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. This is followed by aging on the fine lees for several months.
