Herència Altés Benufet

Herencia Altés Benufet is a white wine produced by the Herencia Altés winery in Batea, DO Terra Alta. It comes from one of the oldest vineyards in Terra Alta. It has a chalky clay soil and is situated at an altitude of 450 meters. This vineyard is full of old vines with an average age of thirty to sixty years. Yields are low, but the wine is incredibly concentrated.

The beginning of the Herencia Altes winery

Herencia Altés Winery was born in 2010, when Nuria Altés decided to buy grapes from her father and make her first wine in Batea. This led to the birth of the Herencia Altés brand. Three years later, she invested in her own small winery and acquired her first vineyard, La Serra. They currently cultivate over 60 hectares, all using organic methods. They have nine wines on the market and are currently building their new winery, which covers over 4,000m². It is located within the vineyard and is integrated into the surrounding environment. Herencia Altés Benufet is a wine made from 100% white Grenache from the centuries-old Benufet farm, located in Serra Xalamera, on calcareous, clayey soils poor in organic matter. The grapes are harvested by hand and placed in 18-kilo boxes. The grapes are then sorted in the vineyards. Once the grapes arrive at the winery, they are cooled for 24 hours at 3-5 degrees Celsius. Wild yeast fermentation takes place in a modern conical concrete tank, followed by two months of single-fermentation of the fine lees. This is followed by six months of aging in the same concrete vats.

The smell and taste of Herència Altés Benufet

The grapes from the old Benufet vineyard have an expressive nose of blossoms and tropical fruit. The intense color is evident in both the nose and the palate. An intense and full-bodied sensation, where careful selection adds complexity and depth, and the natural freshness of the grapes adds unity. It is a highly gastronomic wine with a refined finish.
