This wonderfully refreshing rosé is made from the Garnatxa Negra variety. It has a light salmon pink color thanks to its brief skin contact. A floral aroma and a fresh taste characterize this wine. We owe this wine to Nuria Altes, who, driven by her passion, launched a wonderful project. The foundation of these wines is their exceptionally high quality, and every effort is made to achieve this high standard. Only the best of the best is good enough.
Organic vineyards of Herencia Altes
The project by Catalan Nuria Altes is called Herencia Altes. She wanted to revitalize Terra Alta, which is considered a forgotten region of Catalonia. The grapes come from organic vineyards near Batea, a village that accounts for fifty percent of the total DO Terra Alta plantings. The climate is Mediterranean with a continental influence. This primarily results in cool winters, with two strong winds that cool the area during the day. This prevents the grapes from losing their acidity and allows them to ripen perfectly.
The grapes are picked earlier than for red wine, which keeps the potential alcohol level lower. Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes are crushed, cooled, and sent directly to the press, where they macerate on the skins under hermetic conditions for between three and eight hours. With very little color acquired, the must enters the fermentation tanks to continue its transformation into wine. The wine is aged for four months in French oak barrels to give it complexity and roundness on the palate.
What does the Herència Altés Garnatxa Negra Rose taste like?
Because the must has briefly come into contact with the berry skins, the Herència Altés Garnatxa Negra Rosat Terra Alta DO has a delicate salmon-pink color. The bouquet exudes a fruity, floral aroma of ripe raspberries, accompanied by hints of ice candy. On the palate, this Terra Alta rosé presents a wonderfully soft body alongside its delicate Grenache sweetness. The alcohol is perfectly integrated. A refreshing drink for rosé lovers.
