This is certainly one of the best-selling Chilean wines in our selection. The price-quality ratio is undeniable. But what we didn't know is that the big name behind Heritage's Chilean wines is Santa Helena Winery. They're certainly no strangers to the wine world. The winery is known for its fantastic wines, especially those made with great purity and power. Founded in 1942 in San Fernando, the winery is currently led by winemaker Nicolás Pérez-Yañez.
Heritage's old Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard
Nicolás studied extensively in California but later returned to his beloved Chile. Fortunately, because this decision allows us to now enjoy this red Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyards for this wine are located in the heart of the Central Valley wine region. The vines are planted against the slopes of the Andes Mountains, allowing the wind to circulate freely. This beautiful mountain range provides cooling and gives the bunches plenty of room to develop slowly. The abundant sunshine in the region contributes to the ripeness of the Cabernet Sauvignon. Once the grapes are ripe, they are harvested in the morning and transported to Heritage. There, they await inspection, because only the finest bunches nourish this red wine.
This Heritage Cabernet Sauvignon is deliciously juicy
In the glass, this red wine reveals a beautiful ruby red with a purple hue. The most beautiful aromas are released immediately upon pouring, and we noted impressions of fresh blackberries and cherries complemented by light spices and a hint of cocoa. The palate is smooth and wonderfully rich on the tongue. The finish reveals sultry cherries, a touch of vanilla, and some spice, perfectly rounding out this Chilean gem.
