A rosé wine we won't easily forget, as this is a rosé that truly everyone will love. And that's no surprise, as the driving force behind Heritage wines is winemaker Nicolás Pérez-Yañez of Santa Helena Winery. And he's no stranger to either the winery or the winemaker. After completing his winemaking studies, Nicolás spent a lot of time in American viticulture, which he now aims to bring to his beloved Chile. And he's succeeding beautifully; the wines have reached new heights, and we taste that in this rosé from the Heritage collection. Their knowledge of Chilean viticulture is undeniable, as they've been making the finest wines since 1942, all with the utmost respect for nature.
The harvest of the Cabernet Sauvignon
The Cabernet Sauvignon bunches for this rosé come from Chile's largest wine region, the Central Valley. Here, the bunches grow in a wonderful climate with abundant sunshine and plenty of coolness. This coolness is crucial for this rosé, as the right amount of cooling allows the bunches to retain their acidity and freshness. The wind from the Andes plays a major role in this. The sharp drop in nighttime temperatures also contributes to the desired Heritage quality. When the harvest is ripe enough, the bunches are harvested early in the season, at night.
The best rosé from Heritage
The skins ferment for a very short time, giving it this beautiful, light salmon-colored finish. Once in the glass, it smells wonderfully of fresh red fruit, reminiscent of strawberries, raspberries, and small berries. On the palate, it has lovely, light acidity that makes everything very refreshing. Plenty of red fruit with hints of grapefruit and red apple. The finish is refined, slightly dry, and above all, delicious.
