The Heritage of Hugel: A Family History in Riquewihr

Deeply rooted in the charming village of Riquewihr since 1639, the Hugel winery remains a living legend. Eleven generations later, this historic family business is proudly led by the three Hugel brothers. With 25 hectares of vineyards on the finest slopes of Riquewihr and additional contracts for approximately 100 hectares with various wineries in the area, the Hugel Pinot Gris Classic symbolizes the excellence of the region.

Production Excellence: The Hugel Pinot Gris Classic

Driven by the "Golden Rule," which states that true wine quality resides within the grape, Hugel rigorously selects the grapes for its Hugel Pinot Gris Classic. Harvested by hand to ensure integrity, only the juice from the first pressing earns the iconic yellow label. After pressing, the must rests for several hours, after which the Hugel Pinot Gris Classic matures in barrels at a constant 18°C. After natural fining during the winter, the wine is lightly filtered and bottled in the spring, to continue aging in the cellars. The highlight of this production process? The special DIAM cork that seals every bottle of Hugel Pinot Gris Classic.
