We don't often encounter sparkling wine from the Russian River Valley region, but the bubbles from J Vineyards are known worldwide. Since 1986, J Vineyards & Winery has built a reputation as one of the finest producers of sparkling and varietal wines in California. Founder Judy Jordan sought a location on the American West Coast with a cool climate and perfect soil to create exquisite sparkling wines. J has several beautiful vineyards in Russian River, known for its cool climate, and this is reflected in the exquisite style of the Cuvée 20.
Made with the same grape varieties as Champagne
For this Cuvée 20, J Vineyards uses Chardonnay and, of course, Pinot Noir. These two grape varieties are a perfect match, and have been used for years in French Champagnes as well. The grapes for this sparkling wine are grown at one of J Vineyards' first vineyards in the Russian River Valley. The old vines produce truly beautiful bunches that are harvested by hand. They are transported to the press in small crates and vinified separately. Only when each plot has been harvested is the blend created. A task that J Vineyards has mastered, achieving fantastic results every year.
What does the J Vineyards Cuvee 20 taste like?
The J Cuvée 20 Brut opens with nuanced aromas of roasted almond, followed by notes of red apple, dried cranberry, and ginger. A very appealing and ripe aroma that we won't soon forget. In the glass, we see soft bubbles that gently rise to the surface. These bubbles create a very pleasant palate, accompanied by hints of lemon, freshly baked bread, hazelnuts, and a touch of tropical fruit.
