If Argentina is proud of anything, it's their Malbec. Kaiken therefore decided to take on a new challenge. The Andes Mountains, just a stone's throw from which Kaiken Wines is located, provided the inspiration to search for the true Andean Malbec. During this search, they discovered three perfect microterroirs. This combination results in a wine with beautiful fruit aromas and an elegant and fresh taste.
Unique vineyard at the foot of the Andes
The Argentinian winery Kaiken was founded in 2002 by winemaker Aurelio Montes. They have three vineyards in Mendoza and one in Salta. These vineyards vary greatly in altitude and weather conditions, allowing Kaiken to cultivate a variety of grape varieties and produce fine, high-quality wines.
Valle de Canota is a valley at the foot of the Andes. The climate here is warm and dry, and the soils are poor in nutrients. These conditions give the wine a high concentration of fruity aromas. The wine retains its elegance and freshness thanks to the cool nights. The grapes are harvested entirely by hand and selected in the winery. Pre-fermentation takes place for four days at a controlled temperature. This is followed by seven days of fermentation in concrete tanks. Maceration takes place after fermentation and lasts for 20 days. Finally, the wine is aged for a further 12 months in concrete tanks and six months in the bottle before release.
The smell and taste of Kaiken Aventura Chacayes Canota
With a deep red color and hints of purple, this Kaiken Aventura Chacayes Canota radiates in the glass. The aroma is exquisite. Wonderfully complex with aromas of cocoa, eucalyptus, and licorice. These notes are enhanced by notes of clove and vanilla. On the palate, a fresh attack with pleasant tannins. Notes of red fruit and slightly spicy notes blend together. A round and silky wine with a juicy finish.
