Hand-harvested for Kaiken Estate Sauvignon Semillon
The Argentinian winery Kaiken was founded in 2002 by winemaker Aurelio Montes. They own three vineyards in Mendoza and one in Salta. These vineyards vary greatly in altitude and weather conditions, allowing Kaiken to cultivate a variety of grape varieties and produce beautiful, high-quality wines. At an altitude of 950 meters above sea level, we find the Agrelo and Lujan de Cuyo vineyards, where the grapes for this wine are planted. This is for good reason: there is little rainfall here, and cold winters alternate with warm summers. The temperature variations favor the ripening process. Furthermore, the silt loam soil contributes to the typical characteristics of the wine.
The Sauvignon and Semillon grapes are harvested by hand, often around February. They are then taken directly to the winery where they undergo a rigorous selection process. A 12-hour maceration process in stainless steel tanks follows, followed by temperature-controlled fermentation in concrete tanks. A deliberate decision was made not to age the wine in wood, ensuring its freshness. However, the wine is aged in the bottle for one month before release.
Enjoy a silky smooth Sauvignon Semillon
With a pale yellow color, the Kaiken Estate Sauvignon Semillon radiates in the glass. The aroma is intense, with abundant peach and other yellow fruit. When swirled, notes of pear and mown grass also emerge more distinctly. On the palate, it offers a silky smooth taste with a slightly spicy initial note. This wine is harmonious, with elegant acidity and a pleasant citrus aftertaste. Deliciously fresh and lingering. Perfect as an aperitif, with cold appetizers, or as an accompaniment to fish dishes.
