The Winzer Krems cooperative was founded in 1938 and, together with its 1,480 members, owns nearly 1,000 hectares of vineyards. It is one of the largest cooperatives in Austria. Their vineyards are located in and around the town of Krems. They fall within the Kremstal region of origin, which, along with the neighboring Wachau and Kamptal, belongs to the "super trio" of Danube wines. The emphasis is on characterful white wines. The vineyards are terraced and therefore not easily accessible, which is why harvesting is primarily done by hand. This, along with the necessary sunshine and the intermittent cool breeze at night, also contributes to the quality.

Austrian national pride

The national grape, Grüner Veltliner, is Austria's pride and joy. Over a third of Austria's total grape plantings consist of this grape variety, making it the absolute number one in Austria. This grape is found throughout the country, but it thrives particularly well northwest of Vienna in areas like the Wachau, Kamptal, and Kremstal. The grapes thrive in both poor and rich soils, but thrive in slate soils. It ripens relatively late and is very sensitive during flowering, requiring ample sunshine before reaching full ripeness. The ideal conditions in Krems ensured that the Grüner Veltliner for this Kellermeister could mature optimally and be bottled after the necessary rest. The quality is exceptionally high. A wine to truly savor.

A complex and very typical Grüner Veltliner from Winzer Krems

This Grüner Veltliner from Winzer Krems boasts a beautiful yellow-green color. A classic fruity bouquet and a strong, nuanced flavor with lively acidity characterize this white wine. Hints of delicate, peppery Veltliner spices linger on the palate. A complex, highly typical Grüner Veltliner from loess. Excellent with white meat such as chicken, veal, or rabbit; or a pan-fried carp, but also with Austrian classics like Viennese Schnitzel and roast pork.
