Italian Spirit Wine Package | Christmas Package

A compact Italian trio for the holidays, with 3 bottles: 2 white and 1 red. You'll taste three distinctive regions in one package, from sunny Salento to the fresh Lugana region on Lake Garda and classic Piedmont. At Perfectewijn, we recently tasted this selection side by side, and it's precisely those contrasts that make this package so enjoyable to serve. What does Salento IGP mean on the label? It's the geographical designation of origin for wines from the heel of Italy, the Puglia region, and here it stands for ripe fruit with Mediterranean energy.

San Marzano Edda Bianco, Salento IGP

A modern white from Puglia, made with Chardonnay as the backbone and supplemented with local grapes. The wine is fermented in French oak barriques and aged for four months on lie with weekly bâtonnage, which creates texture and depth without becoming heavy. In the cellar, cryomaceration is used, a short cold maceration of the skins for added aroma and tension. We tasted the recent vintage again and were impressed by the balance between creaminess and freshness. Grapes: Chardonnay dominant, supplemented with indigenous white varieties; various importers specify this as Chardonnay 60%, Fiano 20%, Moscatello Selvatico 20%.

Farina Lugana DOC

A clear, precise Lugana from Farina, originating from the morainic hills south of Lake Garda. The combination of sandy, alluvial soils and the mild climate produces an expressive, fresh style. This is a textbook example of its provenance, clean-lined and juicy. Grape: 100% Trebbiano di Lugana, the classic white grape of Lugana.

Boroli Barbera d'Alba DOC

Piedmontese craftsmanship with a Barbera that focuses on purity and drinking pleasure. Boroli uses a classic and precise approach, allowing the vibrant acidity and ripe red fruit to be beautifully reflected in the glass. We tasted this Barbera again in the autumn, and it remained a favorite for its energy and excellent length. Grape: 100% Barbera.
