The Kingpin Rosé is made from a blend of Grenache Noirt and Tempranillo. These grapes are meticulously selected based on their provenance. This is what makes this Rosé so unique. The Kingpin Rosé has a distinctive fruity character, demonstrating the dedication and care with which this wine is produced by the Felix Solis winery.
The family winery Felix Solis
Félix Solís Avantis is one of the largest family wineries in Spain. It was founded in 1952 in the Valdepeñas wine region, which for a long time served as the main route to Madrid. From day one, it was equipped with state-of-the-art production facilities. This has always made Felix a contemporary winery. The production facility—the winery alone, not the vineyards—now covers an impressive 120,000 m². As a result, we certainly no longer consider Felix Solis a small fry in Spanish winemaking.
The Kingpin Rosé is produced from Garnacha and Tempranillo grapes. These grapes are carefully controlled to ensure perfect ripeness, while the anthocyanin concentration is limited to achieve a light-colored rosé. This results in juices with good acidity and freshness, ideal for this wine style. Each grape variety is treated individually with a short maceration of just 2 to 3 hours, followed by a very gentle pressing. Fermentation takes place at very low temperatures, similar to those of white wines, around 12 to 14 degrees Celsius, with prolonged contact with the lees for 3 to 4 months before blending and bottling.
A beautifully balanced Rose from Felix Solis
As soon as we pour the Kingpin Rose, we can immediately enjoy beautiful aromas of raspberries and strawberries, complemented by notes of nectarines. On the palate, it's a fruity wine with pleasant acidity that's perfectly balanced. The lingering and flavorful finish is a wonderful reward. The Kingpin Rose pairs beautifully with paella and tapas.
