Over the years, the Henri Bourgeois winery has built up a magnificent vineyard estate. This allows it to produce a variety of Sancerres from different soils, resulting in diverse wines, each with its own distinct aromas and flavors. La Bourgeoise is made from old vines on warm slopes with a high flint content. This soil type creates wines with exceptional minerality and a lush, long-lasting mouthfeel. A truly delicious La Bourgeoise!
Impressive bottlings of Bourgeois
For ten generations, the Bourgeois family has dedicated its passion and values to Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir, becoming Sancerre's most renowned winemaker. The company is now led by the current generation of the family – Jean-Marie and Rémi Bourgeois. The winery is located in the village of Chavignol, and the vineyards are found in Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé. Each plot is isolated and cultivated according to its origins to reveal the most precise and true expression of its terroir, whether it be flint or limestone-clay soils. This is reflected in the impressive range of bottlings, many of which are among the most sought-after of their kind in the Loire Valley each year.
Ten months of maturation for La Bourgeoise Sancerre
During the harvest, only the ripest grapes are hand-picked and carefully brought to the cellar. Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes are immediately pressed. After settling at cold temperatures, part of the wine is fermented in thermoregulated stainless steel tanks and the rest in French oak barrels. La Bourgeoise is patiently aged for 9 to 10 months on its fine lees in oak barrels, with periodic hand-stirring of the lees.
The result is this La Bourgeoise, with its flint aromas and spicy bouquet. It is rich in fruit, full-bodied, well-balanced, and strongly reminiscent of Sauvignon blanc and grape. The richness and intensity of the flavor linger long and harmoniously on the palate. This prestigious selection has excellent bottle aging potential and will continue to evolve over 10 to 12 years.
