The grapes for Prieto Pariente wines come from old, very low-yielding vineyards located in Castile and León, in the province of Valladolid, and in the Sierra de Gredos mountain range. In Valladolid, the vineyards are located in three different villages: Mucientes, Pedrosa del Rey, and Valbuena de Duero. Each plot is fermented separately, allowing the most suitable blend for each wine to be selected. The red wine comes from the province of Valladolid.

The quality of Jose Pariente

The winery is named after José Pariente, a hardworking grape grower and producer from Rueda, whose vines formed the basis for the project launched by his daughter, Maria Victoria (Mariví) Pariente in 1998. José Pariente is now one of the most respected brands in Rueda for its quality and consistency. Rueda is one of the most technologically oriented wineries in Spain. However, hand harvesting is standard for bush vines, and indigenous yeasts were selected from José Pariente's own vineyards as part of a collaborative project with the University of Navarra. Approximately 75 percent of the grapes are cold macerated, and vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks.

The scents and flavors of Jose Pariente La Provincia Prieto

La Provincia is a balanced and soft wine, with notes of fresh red fruit. La Provencia undergoes spontaneous fermentation at controlled temperatures in stainless steel tanks. Part of the malolactic fermentation takes place in stainless steel and the remainder in French oak barrels. After fermentation, the wine is aged for eleven months in 225- and 500-liter French oak barrels. Minimum aging in bottles is nine months. Dark red in color. Intense aromas of ripe raspberries, strawberries, cherries, and spices. The palate is powerful with a beautiful balance of fruitiness, freshness, and structure. The aromas become more complex with age.
