The story of this white wine is almost idyllic. It begins with its name, La Rabassière, which means truffle in Provençal. The Uzes truffle, originating from the same region, is a true delicacy here. This truffle is even honored with its own festival, which always takes place in January. Every year, Bourdic releases this La Rabassière White in honor of this festival. In this way, the winery ensures that the two finest products from this region are perfectly combined.
The vineyards around the municipality of Uzes
Bourdic is a wine cooperative of no fewer than 100 different winegrowers. They hail from ten municipalities around the city of Nîmes. Together, they represent over 1,600 hectares of vineyards, a vast area. This gives Bourdic extensive knowledge and grapevines at its disposal, allowing them to guarantee exceptionally high quality. La Rabassière White is made from three grape varieties: Viognier, Roussanne, and Grenache Blanc. After harvest, the grapes are brought to the winery. What makes this white wine special is that the Roussanne is fermented in wooden barrels, giving Bourdic's wine even more body and complexity.
The scent and taste of La Rabassière White
Naturally, this La Rabassière White pairs exceptionally well with truffle dishes. We wouldn't have expected anything less from a wine made in honor of this delicacy. Because the Roussanne grape in this white wine is fermented in oak, it gains enormous depth. This is immediately apparent in the aroma, which offers clear notes of oak and stone fruit. The palate is exuberant, unique, and distinct. You'll taste soft vanilla, sultry honey, and hints of dried apricot and peach. This gives La Rabassière White an exceptionally lush character.
