That's a real gem when it comes to this white wine from Le Manpot. It's a true masterpiece by Francois and Adrien! A full-bodied and powerful Chardonnay, the oak barrels are distinctly yet pleasantly palateable. This white wine comes from the vineyards of the Domaine Bassac estate, located in the triangle of Béziers, Pézénas, and Bédarieux. The estate has always been at the forefront, having produced 100% organic wines since the early 1980s. They're often called the pioneers of the south, as they always make wines full of passion and courage! This white Le Manpot is another wine with exceptional diversity and boldness!
The old Chardonnay vineyard of Le Manpot

For these top wines, only Chardonnay grapes are grown on the finest slopes in the Côtes de Thongue. The old, thick vines have been growing in the nutrient-rich soil for decades, resulting in a truly fantastic harvest. The grapes ripen in a perfect climate with abundant sunshine and cool breezes. The wind that blows across the mountaintops through the vineyards is crucial for an even harvest. The bunches receive all the time and attention needed to become the showpiece.
Wood aging for the white Le Manpot wine

All bunches are harvested by hand in the early morning. This ensures only the finest juice, which translates into a rich flavor. After pressing, this white Le Manpot is aged for an impressive six months in oak barrels in the Domaine Bassac cellars. Some of the barrels are new and unused, making this white wine even fuller and creamier. We notice this immediately upon opening the bottle: a powerful aroma of apricot, peach, and vanilla is immediately released. In the glass, it erupts in a golden yellow with a thick gold rim. It clings to the glass, and its thick texture already tells us that this wine is a real winner. Our nose is greeted by a full-bodied attack of roasted nuts, vanilla, yellow fruits like apricots and peaches, and also some figs. On the palate, the tongue is teased by soft flavors of butter and vanilla, which leave a lasting impression. We swirl the wine around our mouths, and it also reveals flavors of apricot jam, vanilla cream, cedarwood, smoke, and a hint of butter babble. A true joy to drink!
