Les Salices Chardonnay, a new addition from the Languedoc. Its light aging in old oak barrels makes this wine a regional gem. This French estate, with its knowledge and expertise, produces excellent wines, including this accessible Chardonnay.

The ideal conditions for the Chardonnay

Domaine Les Salices comes from François Lurton, the man who also produces fantastic wines in Chile, Argentina, and Spain. He is an expert wine pioneer with a passion for innovation. Lurton comes from a family of winemakers. As the only member of the family, he doesn't own any vineyards in Bordeaux, but he does own them in the south of France. He grows grapes in various locations in the Languedoc region and produces a variety of wines. The Chardonnay for Domaine Les Salices comes from a vineyard in the Minervois region, not far from the beautiful, ancient city of Carcassonne. The vineyard faces south, offering an ideal climate for ripening the grapes. The Tramontana wind, blowing from the northwest, provides some cooling, alternating with the warm rays of the sun. The soil consists of chalky clay; as it approaches the Argent-Double River, it becomes sandier.

The aromas and aromas of the Les Salices Chardonnay

Domaine Les Salices is a delightful, accessible, and balanced wine with pleasant aromas of peach, apricot, and lychee on the nose. A fresh hint of citrus is also revealed, rounded out by a touch of heather honey. The palate is very pleasant, with a full, slightly creamy texture. The rounded structure, along with hints of toasted nuts and vanilla, hints at the oak aging. Because the wine is aged for only a few months in large, older oak barrels, its fruity character is well preserved. Overall, it is soft and rounded with a refreshing acidity on the finish. Ready to drink now, intended for young drinking, but will definitely keep for another two years. A wine to be enjoyed on its own, but also perfectly paired with salmon, chicken, veal, or pasta.
