The long history of Bodega Leza García in Rioja dates back to around 1920. It was then that Mr. Juan Leza Arenzana established the winery, later becoming the grandfather and founder of the prestigious Leza García winery. From day one, it was paramount to do everything with love and dedication, as that was Juan Leza Arenzana's guiding spirit. For years, he cultivated his finest grapes in Rioja, and now the vineyards are well into their twenties. The vineyards are located in the best locations in Rioja, namely the Rioja Alta region, a historic district of Rioja. This is where the best Rioja wines originate, thanks in part to several factors: the weather, soil structure, oak aging, and a combination of modern and historical vinification techniques.
The red Rioja wine of the Leza García family
Juan Leza Arenzana's love for the Crianza wines from the Rioja was immense. He particularly appreciated a particular vinification method using grapes from old vines. That's why this red Leza García Rioja is named after the family and bears the name (Tinto Familia). Only grapes from the family's oldest Tempranillo vines are used for this red wine. These are cultivated like kings, and the harvest is therefore phenomenal. After the manual harvest, during which each bunch is meticulously inspected, the entire wine is aged in oak for at least eight months. Only new barrels are used, which further enhances its strength. After this period, the wine is also aged in the cellar for at least fourteen months. Only when the Tinto Familia Crianza is at its peak are the bottles removed from the Leza García cellars.
