Lingot Martin Vin Rosé Pétillant is a lightly sparkling rosé for moments when you want to serve something festive that remains smooth, fruity, and remarkably light. The wine gets its unique character by pressing Gamay immediately after harvest, keeping the color delicate and the fruit bright and prominent. This style is directly linked to the méthode ancestrale. What is méthode ancestrale? It is a traditional method of making sparkling wine where an initial, partial fermentation naturally continues in the bottle later on.
Vineyards and Region
The origin of this wine lies in a cooler corner of Eastern France, where altitude and topography greatly influence its style.
- Location / Origin: The wine comes from the area around Nantua, in the Ain department, a few kilometers from Cerdon and in the heart of the Cerdonnais vineyard region. This places it within the broader Bugey context in Eastern France, on the axis between Lyon and Geneva.
- Altitude: The vineyards are located at an altitude of 300 to 1,000 meters. This location provides cooler conditions and helps preserve freshness and lightness in the wine.
- Soil: The plots are on argilo-calcaire soils, meaning clay and limestone. This is a classic combination for grapes that need to retain freshness and tension.
- Aspect: The vines are on steep slopes with favorable sun exposure. This combination helps the grapes ripen sufficiently in an area where the growing season is strongly influenced by altitude and cold.
Winemaking and Aging
The viticulture and cellar approach here are entirely focused on a light sparkle, plenty of fruit, and a soft, friendly style.
- Harvest & Selection: The Gamay is pressed immediately after picking. This keeps the juice light in color and gives the wine its subtle rosé tint instead of the deeper red seen in classic Beaujolais vinification with skin contact.
- Fermentation: The vinification follows the méthode ancestrale, with a partial fermentation at low temperature in tanks. This results in a wine with a low alcohol percentage and natural residual sweetness, after which the fermentation continues in the bottle and the sparkle develops naturally.
- Bottle Finishing: After the second phase, the settled yeasts are removed by filtration and transfer, after which the bottles are given their final closure. This keeps the style clear, light, and immediately drinkable.
- Alcohol Content: At 8% alcohol, this rosé pétillant remains particularly light and smooth. This makes it a great accompaniment to an aperitif, a festive lunch, or a dessert with red fruits.
Grape Composition
This wine relies entirely on a single grape, precisely what gives it its playful fruit and light structure.
- Gamay – France: Gamay forms the entire base here and gives the wine its juicy red fruit notes, soft sparkle, and fresh, uncomplicated drinking style.
Tasting Notes and Serving Suggestions
Clear rosé in the glass, with a lively nose of red fruit and clear notes of raspberry. On the palate, it is fruity, light, and delicately sweet, with a fine fizz that keeps it playful and approachable. The finish remains smooth, fresh, and delightfully drinkable.
- Serving Temperature: 8–10 °C works best here, as this range keeps the red fruit fresh and the sparkle beautifully lively.
- Dishes: Aperitifs, strawberries, raspberries, sorbet, bavarois, and light pastries with red fruits pair beautifully, as the wine has a soft sweetness and plenty of fruit.
