Vintage Report

The 2023 vintage in the Languedoc received an excellent score of 94 points in the Robert Parker Vintage Chart. This indicates a particularly strong vintage that has yielded high-quality wines.
For the wines of the Comtes de Lorgeril winery, we travel to the Languedoc wine region of France. It's one of the oldest wine regions in the country, with roots and terroir dating back to Roman times. Centuries ago, the Lorgeril family settled near the town of Carcassonne. A magnificent castle with hundreds of vineyards is where this wine family produces high-quality wines.

Lorgeril wines from the South of France

The de Lorgeril family's history goes back many centuries, and since 1620 they have lived at the château in the small village of Pennautier in the Languedoc-Roussillon region. Their priority has always been the wines, which are therefore highly prized. The tenth generation, now at the helm, took over and expanded the company in 1987. They own a total of 340 hectares of vineyards in the finest regions of southern France. These are generally located on the higher hills, allowing the grapes to receive a little more coolness in the warm Mediterranean climate. The wines must be authentic, accurately reflect the terroir, and, above all, exude grandeur, freshness, and elegance.

Only the very best Sauvignon Blanc grapes for Lorgeril

The fresh Sauvignon Blanc grapes ripen perfectly on the high hills at an altitude of between 200 and 400 meters. Thanks to the cool wind, the grapes have time to ripen optimally and develop their special qualities. The clay and chalky soils also contribute to this. In the vineyards, the grapes are regularly tasted so they can be harvested immediately at peak ripeness. In the winery, the best grapes are selected and, after a short maceration, pressed and fermented. After the necessary rest, the juice is bottled, and it's time to enjoy this French white wine. The Sauvignon Blanc sparkles in the glass with its greenish-yellow color. It has a powerful nose with aromas of grapefruit, lemon zest, and boxwood. It's a fresh and lively wine with lovely fruit acidity. A soft, dry white wine that's wonderful on a summer evening.
