What a fantastic rosé from the heart of the Valencia region, Utiel Requena. The big name behind Los Patos wines is the Cruz de Castillo winery, and they're well-known among wine connoisseurs. Since 1850, they've been crafting the finest Spanish wines, with the primary goal of offering excellent value for money. Well, that's certainly true with this Los Patos Bobal Rosé! This has been achieved in part by the winery's extensive investment. For example, they have a completely renovated winery equipped with all the latest technologies. We can safely say that Los Patos is made with a modern touch while preserving ancient Spanish winemaking traditions.
The harvest of the Bobal grape
This rosé is made with Bobal grapes grown in old vineyards in the Utiel region of Valencia. The vineyard's elevated position provides the Bobal grapes with more cooling, a characteristic we taste in the fresh style of this Los Patos Rosé. The winery takes its name from the ducks known as Patos. These ducks roam the vineyards every morning, foraging for food and naturally turning the soil. They also foster biodiversity. All this results in a unique harvest, and the habitat is crucial. The Bobal bunches receive ample sunshine, but also the coolness of the night and the mountain breezes.
The aroma and taste of the Los Patos Rosé
When the grapes are harvested early in the morning, the skins ripen for a very short time. This creates the beautiful light color comparable to a Provence rosé. With our nose to the glass, we smell a broad bouquet of red fruit, recalling strawberries, raspberries, and some berries. The light spiciness makes everything very exciting, and we can't wait to take a sip. On the palate, the tongue is gently stimulated by fresh flavors of citrus and red apple, before the red fruit quickly emerges. The beautiful, refreshing finish completes the whole experience.
