We wondered how it could be at this price point, but after a bit of research, we discovered that this white wine from the Los Patos series is made by none other than Cruz de Castillo. A winery that more than deserves its status in Spain. Founded in 1850, the winery has been renowned since its first harvest. They produce beautiful wines known for their excellent value for money. This is partly due to the extensive investments the winery has made in recent years. For example, they have a completely renovated winery with all the latest winemaking techniques. Yet, Cruz de Castillo still maintains the old Spanish winemaking traditions, which is one of the reasons why the Los Patos wines are so outstanding.

The old vineyard in Utiel Requena

The vineyards for this Los Patos white wine are located in the Utiel Requena region of Valencia. They are filled with the Viura and Sauvignon Blanc grape varieties, which complement each other perfectly in this Los Patos white wine. The name "Los Patos" comes from the ducks (Patos) that roam the vineyards early in the morning. They are prized by the family, as they significantly influence the soil structure. Thanks to the perfect climate in Utiel Requena, Valencia, with abundant sunshine and intense solar heat, the bunches ripen perfectly. The fresh breeze contributes to the cooling effect, allowing the Viura and Sauvignon Blanc to retain their freshness, which you can taste in this white wine.

This white Los Patos wine is wonderfully fresh

All bunches are harvested early in the morning to protect the harvest from oxidation and bruising during transport to Cruz de Castillo. The freshness remains in the bunches, and we taste and smell it in this wine. The Viura and Sauvignon Blanc grapes form a kind of golden marriage in this white wine, giving it its beautiful light yellow color with green glints in the glass. It leaves the glass with aromas of white fruit, mixed with green herbs and a touch of citrus. On the palate, it offers tremendous freshness and a richness of apple, pear, and lime. The finish and palate also reveal nuances of gooseberry and lychee. What a fine white wine, and at this price point.
