This is Chile's king's wine from the winemakers of Los Vascos Lafite Rothschild. Los Vascos is located in Colchagua, a closed valley in the central region of Chile, about 40 kilometers from the sea. The valley offers a perfect microclimate for high-quality viticulture, with significant variations between day and night temperatures. The coolness the grapes receive at night is crucial to slowing down the ripening process. This red Le Dix is made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from 50-year-old vines in the Los Frailes vineyard.
Wood aging for the Los Vascos Le Dix Cabernet Sauvignon
This Cabernet Sauvignon is crafted with the same care as our Bordeaux Grands Crus. Grapes are meticulously hand-picked at peak ripeness. After thorough sorting and the removal of unusable grapes, the grapes are placed in stainless steel tanks for fermentation. This Le Dix then matures for a full eighteen months in fifty percent new oak barrels.
The aroma and taste of the Le Dix Cabernet
A beautiful, bright ruby-red color. The nose reveals aromas of cherries, blackberries, and blueberries. Notes of black pepper, ripe red bell pepper, black olives, smoked chili powder, thyme, and bay leaf can be discerned in this Cabernet Sauvignon. The palate offers numerous nuances of chocolate truffles, roasted chestnuts, and cherry liqueur. The finish is full and intense, yet classic thanks to the beautiful Bordeaux hue found in this red wine.
