Los Vascos wines combine Lafite tradition with Chile's unique terroir to create elegant wines. Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite's vision to expand their estate brought them to South America in 1988, becoming the first French winemaking investment in modern Chile. The vineyards for this white Sauvignon Blanc are located in the Casablanca Valley, further north between Santiago and Valparaíso, known for its excellent Sauvignon Blanc production. Some grapes are also sourced from the Colchagua Andes and the Leyda Valley, adding further diversity to the wine.
The harvest of the Los Vascos Sauvignon Blanc
Grapes are harvested before daylight, when temperatures are at their lowest, to minimize damage. After a few hours of cold maceration, they are pressed and fermented at a low temperature in stainless steel tanks to preserve their aromatic potential. The Sauvignon Blanc is partially aged on lees to achieve a good balance between roundness and freshness.
The aroma and taste of Sauvignon Blanc
This Lafite Los Vascos Sauvignon Blanc is known for its vibrant aroma. Beautiful and refreshing nuances of ripe pineapple, peach, pear, and melon, combined with hints of lime and mandarin. The palate is truly thirst-quenching, with plenty of lovely, light acidity from grapefruit, lime, and asparagus. On the palate, hints of green herbs like mint leaves and a swarm of passion fruit.
