Vintage Report

The 2016 vintage in Champagne received an excellent rating of 94 points. The wines from this year are of high quality, still youthful, and have great aging potential.

This Louis Roederer Brut Vintage is made from 70 percent Pinot Noir and 30 percent Chardonnay. Fascinated by the Pinot Noir grape's diverse flavors, Louis Roederer decided to showcase the structure and power of this grape from the Montagne de Reims with this Vintage champagne. This north-facing vineyard matures slowly, resulting in champagnes sometimes rough and limited at the beginning of the production process. The wine's personality develops remarkably after aging in oak barrels. Thirty percent of the grapes are aged in oak barrels. After blending, the Brut Vintage is aged in the cellars for an average of four years.

The great success of Louis Roederer

Founded in 1776, Champagne Louis Roederer is one of the few remaining fully independent, large, family-owned Champagne houses. By 1886, the house had built such a reputation that the second Louis Roederer was asked by Tsar Alexander II to create Cristal for the exclusive use of the Russian Tsars, thereby creating the first Cuvée de Prestige. In January 2006, Frédéric Rouzaud, the sixth generation of the family, took over the helm of the company. Roederer owns just over 200 hectares of vineyards in the finest regions of Champagne: Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne, and Côte des Blancs. Roederer is self-sufficient for 100 percent of its vintages and contributes two-thirds of its production to Brut Premier. Such a high proportion of estate grapes is highly unusual in Champagne and guarantees superior quality at all stages, from grape to glass.

The aroma and taste of the Louis Roederer Brut Vintage

The color is a beautiful white gold, and this Champagne has a lovely, pleasant mousse. This Louis Roederer Brut Vintage has an intense aroma of juicy fruit, red fruit, and hazelnut, followed by subtle notes of lightly roasted cocoa, pastry, and vanilla. The palate is an explosion of red fruit, vanilla, and blossom. A refined hint of oak finishes, completing the complex yet highly enjoyable experience.
