This region has established itself in recent decades as a wine cellar for Italian wines. This was immediately apparent to the talented winemaker Alessandro Michelon. He founded the ultra-modern winery Masseria Borgo dei Trulli here, and now produces arguably the finest wines of Salento. The winery is located in the municipality of Sava in the province of Tarante, in the heart of the Salento region. This area, thanks in part to Alessandro's passion, has become the cradle of Puglian wines. The craftsmanship begins in the vineyards. For example, the Primitivo bunches are snapped on the vine as soon as they are ripe enough. This deprives the Primitivo bunches of nutrients and allows the grapes to dry naturally.
