What a soft and supple wine this Ruminat Primitivo from the Lunaria winery is! It's a full-bodied wine, a hit with many, and it's also biodynamically produced. The wine is made entirely from the Primitivo grape. This grape is primarily found in the southern Italian region of Puglia, where it matures exceptionally well, developing a wealth of aromas and flavors.

Characterful wines from Lunaria

Cantina Orsogna is an award-winning cooperative in the central Italian region of Abruzzo. They specialize in producing distinctive wines using organic and biodynamic methods. The Primitivo is bright, fresh, and smooth, with notes of sweet black cherry and black currant combined with hints of cinnamon and clove. The vines for this wine are grown in vineyards 100 to 150 meters above sea level. The sea breeze blows cool air into the vineyards, effectively offsetting the daytime heat. After careful harvesting and selection, the grapes are destemmed and pressed. The skins remain in contact with the must for 20 days and ferment at a controlled temperature of around 25 degrees Celsius. Finally, this Ruminat Primitivo is given the necessary rest in stainless steel tanks before aging in the bottle.

The many aromas of Lunaria Ruminat Primitivo

This red wine boasts an incredibly broad aroma. Plenty of ripe black fruit, such as berries and cherries, is also slightly spicy. The palate is sultry yet smooth, with plenty of ripe red fruit. The beautiful balance between the sweetness and the crisp acidity is striking, a characteristic of the Primitivo grape and very pleasant. A beautiful, pure red wine from Lunaria with good structure, making it easy to drink. It pairs beautifully with meat dishes and pasta with tomato sauce. It also pairs well with dishes featuring cheese or heavier flavors, such as a garlicky pasta salad.
