Luquet Mâcon-Villages Les Mulots 2024
Since 1878, Domaine Luquet has been building an impressive reputation in the Mâconnais region. Today, the winery specializes in terroir wines from Chardonnay, with its flagship cuvées from Pouilly-Fuissé, Saint-Véran, and this expressive Mâcon-Villages. The wine comes from a higher-elevation parcel in Cortevaix, a place where fresh winds and chalky soils combine to create a vibrant Burgundian character.
Vineyards and region
The Les Mulots plot is located near Cortevaix, between Cluny and Cormatin, about 30 kilometers northwest of Fuissé. Here, the Chardonnay vines benefit from clay-limestone soil and a relatively high elevation, which enhances the freshness and tension of the wine. The vines average over 20 years of age and are known for their low yields and aromatic concentration.
Vinification and maturation
After manual harvesting, the wine undergoes temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks, between 18 and 20°C. There is no malolactic fermentation, and the wine is aged exclusively in steel, without wood. This preserves the precision and purity of the grape and allows the terroir to fully express itself.
Grape composition
100% Chardonnay
Tasting notes and serving suggestions
This golden-yellow wine opens with fragrant minerality, followed by a concentrated flavor structure. The finish is long, with a subtle tension thanks to the freshness of the terroir. Perfect with a classic mussel dish or fish dishes served cold. Ideal serving temperature: 10 to 12°C.
