A good wine from the vine
A good wine doesn't begin in the winery, but in the vine, in the cultivation and care of the vine. Bodegas Luzón manages approximately 1,200 hectares of vineyards. Luzón is located in the north of the Murcia region and is surrounded by mountains. It is one of the most prominent wineries in the Jumilla area. Its signature grape is Monastrell. This grape is particularly characteristic of the region and serves as the base for many of Luzón's wines. It is a varietal with a strong character. Other varieties you'll find here include Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Macabeo, and Chardonnay.
Harvesting is carried out both manually and mechanically. The winery covers over 500 hectares, all of which are used for their products. After being transported to the winery, the grapes undergo alcoholic fermentation, followed by maceration with their skins still on in stainless steel tanks. This second phase is carried out at a strictly controlled temperature of 24-26 degrees Celsius. Before being bottled and marketed, the wine undergoes a short aging process, spending three months in French and American oak barrels.
