Finca Luzón is a red wine from the DO Jumilla, produced by the Luzón winery. This wine is a blend of two different grape varieties: Monastrell (70 percent) and Syrah (30 percent). Finca Luzón is created from the last harvest from the winery's 500 hectares. This wine combines the strong personality of the Monastrell grape, the most widely used variety at the winery, with the elegant fruitiness of Syrah.
Manual harvest for Finca Luzon Tinto
The Jumilla wine region is located in southeastern Spain, north of the Murcia region. The climate is continental, influenced by the nearby Mediterranean Sea, with warm days, rainfall that doesn't exceed 300 liters per square meter, and cool nights. The result is a harsh climate, resulting in coarse-textured soil with a high limestone content, which produces small bunches with good sugar concentration, excellent acidity, and thicker skins.
The grapes are harvested manually, and the grapes are transported on pallets to the cellar, where they spend 48 hours in a cold room at 8°C. The grapes are sorted at the table, and the best are chosen. Later, the wine is barreled, where alcoholic fermentation takes place for 8 to 10 days, maintaining a temperature of 26°C in contact with the skins. Maceration then takes place for 2-4 days with the skins still intact.
A young and fresh wine from Luzon
Finca Luzón is bottled without aging, resulting in a young and fresh wine.
Luzón is one of the most prominent wineries in the DO Jumilla. Its 500 hectares of vineyards are situated in an idyllic landscape, surrounded by olive groves and protected by mountains. This red Luzon Collection Monastrell has a deep purple color. This powerful Monastrell is elegant on the nose, with aromas reminiscent of red fruits such as cherries, strawberries, and black plums. The palate is juicy and fresh, with abundant fruit notes of plums, cherries, and a hint of light spice. The finish is refined and very full-bodied with a deep aftertaste.
